1991 Sonic The Hedgehog Promo Comic

Sonic's first comic appearance was not in either the Archie or Fleetway series, but instead in the original 1991 Sonic The Hedgehog promo comic. Released in fall of 1991 to promote the release of Sonic The Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis, the comic was written and drawn by Francis Mao as a origin story of Sonic. The comic's story really didn't feature much accuracy with the video games, but it is a very interesting take on Sonic the Hedgehog. Official Sonic The Hedgehog Yearbook

Publisher: Grandreams
Release: 1991/1992
ISBN 1-85830-151-3

The second Sonic Yearbook to be released, it featured 4 different comic stories with very impressive artwork. Also included in this book was a diary by Sonic himself, Badniks guide, Sega reviews, and a quiz at the end. Considering it was released after Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive), the characters featured in these comics only included Sonic, Tails, and Dr. Robotnik. The Official Sonic The Hedgehog Yearbook series was originally released in the United Kingdom.
